PLEXSYS’ engineering team is supporting customers with innovative feature updates and improvements that enhance the user experience and streamline training. The release of Comm 4.3 brings updates to PLEXSYS’ popular sonomarc and PLEXComm simulation software.

Wide Area Network (WAN) and Mission Package (MP) 16
First, WAN connections are now supported in sonomarc for Instructor Link, Seat Link, and Core Connector. This allows for simplified connections and deployment to remote sites. The release also adds the ability to configure Instructor Links remotely, greatly speeding up configuration and management duties. Additionally, Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) support has been updated from Mission Package MP-15 to MP-16, bringing training for SATCOM Uplink Jamming.

Ease of Use
Also, in an ongoing effort to increase the ease of use of sonomarc, several changes and improvements were made in Comm 4.3 to better support Windows and Linux firewalls. These improvements include: ensuring sonomarc client applications work without being added to Windows firewall exceptions and allowing ports to be configured in Core Connector. Radio bridging using sonomarc for Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) has also been simplified, helping customers who need an off-the-shelf LVC solution.

Beginning now, customers that use PLEXComm SVP can easily transfer their exercises into the sonomarc Scripted Events system. They are able to take advantage of the increased feature set such as scripting Virtual People.

With many other performance and stability improvements in Comm 4.3, Product Manager, Aaron Carlson summed it up by saying, “This release is the easiest to use and most powerful to date. Supporting Windows and Linux systems, I think this release will be a great upgrade for our customers.”

During all upgrades, PLEXSYS product development teams are empowered to make products more user-friendly. PLEXSYS product development teams are comprised of subject matter experts and of course, the brightest software engineers in the radio communication and simulation community. With every release, we try and look at things from the Trainee’s perspective to deliver a product that is intuitive and easy to use. Off the shelf, plug and play…you do not have to be an engineer to use it.
